Hello fellow Hero folks,

I have the BASIC ROM sitting in U107, and a CFLEA ROM (comes from Dave
Dunfield, and contains what is needed to run compiled C programs)
installed in U103. I also have the Automatic ROM in U102. In the other
three slots I have 8K RAM chips. The Automatic ROM will run, but I
cannot get either the CFLEA ROM or the BASIC ROM to run.

I have a terminal emulator running, and I can both download and upload
programs into RAM. I can load the CFLEA kernal into RAM (for those who
know this program) and a program into another place in RAM, and run the
program under CFLEA.

So, that leads to one likely possibility, and that is that I have the
jumpers set on the memory board in the wrong spot for both the CFLEA and
BASIC ROMs. Can someone who has a BASIC ROM installed and running
please check to see what their jumper settings are?

Thanks,

Gary Livick

Hello Gary,

It sounds like all of your ROM's and RAM chips are in the correct spot.
For the RAM chips in U104, U105, & U106 you should have the following
jumpers set:

J110, J114, J118 set to 'C'
J109, J113, J117 set to 'A' these jumpers set the 5v supply
J111, J112, J115, J116, J119, J120 set to 'B'

For the BASIC ROM chip (assumes 24 pin 8K chip)

J122 set to 'D'
J121 set to 'B'
J123, J124 set to 'A"

If that doesn't work you may have a bad ROM or other problem with the
board. As for the CFLEA ROM the jumpers will depend on the chip type.
If you post the type (2732, 2764, etc) I can let you know what the settings
should be.

Good luck,

Robert

Thanks for the clue. It turns out that I need my settings to be C,B,B,B
for the eproms I have. It was confusing because the BASIC docs don't
assume a Dunfield chip.

And I was correct in saying that the previous owner could never have had
this working, even though his EBAY ad said that this was a robot in
excellent condition.

Hidy everybody!

I've been tring to operate my serial port interface with DDF's Cflea
and I can't seem to get the config right for my ram, so how much ram
is in a 6264 ram chip??
Tom

Tom,

The 6264 is a 8K Static RAM Chip (8K x 8 Bits = 64)

The 6116 is a 2k Static RAM Chip (2K x 8 Bits = 16)

Hope this helps

Robert
