Panel Mod

This nice mod was submitted by John McElhaney of www.liquidthinking.us

Go to Radio Shack and buy the small rare earth magnets, there REALLY strong! You also need 1/2 inch screws that fit the cover threads. Get nuts to match. So that's 8 packages of magnets (2 to a pack total of 16 magnets), 16 bolts and 16 nuts. You'll also need some super glue.

These magnets are really strong so you'll want to work with them only  a few at a time or they will move and mess you up. I did this 4 magnets at a time.

1. With two magnets sticking together, put a ONE HALF DROP of super glue on one face of the magnets. Only the face. Don't glue both magnets together.

2. Place one bolt head on the magnet with the glue. LET THE GLUE DRY!  About 5 minutes is enough to work with them. The magnet will hold the bolt head in place. So now you have one magnet glued to the top of the bolt and the other magnet is free. Keeping the other magnet in
place keeps you from gluing the wrong side later.

3. Once the glue has dried enough to work with it glue another bolt
the same way to the other magnet.

4. Repeat this for all 16 magnets.

5. On HERO' s chassis, leave the rubber grommets in place. Put a Bolt/
Magnet into each rubber grommet and use a nut to secure it into
place. This is done 8 times.

6. Remove the cleats from HERO's Covers. Put the nut on the bolt
before threading the bolt/magnet into the covers. Use the nuts to
secure the bolt. These nuts can also be used to adjust the position
of the magnet relative to the chassis.

I have been using this Mod for several weeks now. it works GREAT. The
magnets are strong enough to hold the covers in place but still make
it very easy to remove them.

Enjoy!
